Word in the World: Submission Guidelines
1. General Information
All submissions (including articles) for publication in WITW are welcomed and are to be sent to:
witw@alcor.concordia.ca
In addition, please submit a hard copy (with your name and contact information only on the cover page) to:
Word in the World,
Concordia University,
Department of Theological Studies (D-304),
1455 boul. De Maisonneuve Ouest,
Montreal, QC
H3G 1M8
Note that manuscripts submitted for publication are subject to peer review and editorial modification.
2. Form of the Manuscript
Submissions may be in English or in French. The type should be double-spaced, 12-point font, printed on one side on standard size paper (8 1/2 by 11). Footnotes should be used, not endnotes. The author’s name, title, address, email address, and phone number should appear both in the written communication (email or letter accompanying the manuscript) and at the beginning of the article.
In questions of style, follow the Chicago Manual of Style: The Chicago Manual of Style. 15th ed. Chicago: University of Chicago Press, 2003.
Every work cited requires a bibliographically complete first reference. Subsequent references are abbreviated, usually by the author’s last name, short title, and page number.
Respect for accuracy in verbatim quotations demands that the spelling, capitalization, punctuation, and abbreviations of the original be reproduced exactly, even if they differ from the style of the journal. Should a quotation contain an error, this may be indicated by [sic], at the author’s discretion.
References to the Scriptures should be in parentheses in the text. All other documentation should be in footnotes.
Quotations of five or more lines in any language will be printed as a separate indented paragraph, in smaller type than that used in the body of the article, and without opening and closing quotation marks. Quotations should appear in that fashion in the manuscript.
3. Integrity of the Manuscript
All submissions must properly cite the sources used by the author and be free of any plagiarism. The author is responsible for the scholarly integrity of any submission.
The submission cannot have been previously published, nor can it be before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided to the Editor)
Copyright Notice:
The editors will not consider manuscripts which are under consideration by other publishers. It is assumed that once you have submitted an article to this journal, it will not be sent to other publishers until a decision about inclusion has been made. Only by special arrangement will the editors consider previously published material.
